Operation Elevate

As preparation intensifies for the upcoming Operation Elevate expedition season, Matt and teammate Gary are pushing hard to build the strength and endurance required for high-altitude climbing. Their training regimen combines long uphill treadmill sessions, outdoor weighted hikes, and runs to simulate sustained mountain ascents with targeted leg and core strength work designed to handle steep terrain and heavy packs. The team is also focusing on recovery and nutrition, lean proteins, balanced carbohydrates, and disciplined hydration to fuel the demanding workload while maintaining durability. Gary will be at Mount Rainier this month completing advanced crevasse rescue training, while the pair looks ahead to their next major objective: an acclimatization climb on Chimborazo this summer in Ecuador. Chimborazo, jutting upward of 20,000 feet, is the highest point on Earth measured from the planet’s center. The climb will serve as a key milestone as the team continues building the physical and technical foundation required for future Himalayan objectives. Stay tuned!
