On June 8th, St. Petersburg becomes a place of remembrance as we lace up our boots for the Defender 2.2 Mile Ruck/Walk. This event carries the weight of purpose, honoring those we’ve lost—some on the battlefield, others on the streets of America, and some succumbing to inner battles.
As we step forward on this journey, we embrace the responsibility to Defend the memory of our fallen heroes. The Defender Ruck Walk is more than a physical challenge. Our community unites to support and uplift, vowing to honor and remember our Defenders.
This walk is a tribute to Marine Anthony Muhlstadt, a true Defender who stood for justice and compassion. Lost in November 2021, Anthony’s legacy lives on through this Ruck Walk. We shoulder his burden, raising awareness for the prevention of veteran suicide. Our steps echo a collective promise to be the shield that guards those who once guarded us.
Participants are invited to join Anthony’s family and friends for a heartfelt birthday celebration post-Ruck Walk. Music, vendors, giveaways, camaraderie, love, and birthday cake await those who choose to commemorate a well-lived life.
